2″ pendant: glass pearl rounds, ribbed silver rondelle spacers, faceted amethyst rectangle split in approximately half with a yellow howlite skull between the pieces.
On delicate 18″ chain with lobster claw clasp.
I bought a full strand of amethyst to get this single bead; sitting alone on a clearance shelf, the entire set deemed unworthy of display because of a single imperfection.
Capitalism will tell you that it’s not as valuable because it’s broken. That your rough edges deem you less than. That unless you’re performing at full perfection, you should settle for what you can get while it sells you solutions in the form of distractions.
And then? It will define “broken.” I ain’t buying it. At least, not until the deep quiet of the night, when the ramifications of such a culture creep into my aching body and whisper soft nothings to my insecurities.
You ain’t broken. Neither am I. Anyone who tells you differently is selling something.
